UPMC Rad (Diagnostic) Technologist Adv in Cumberland, Maryland

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to join their team!

The Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

This is a full-time position that will work primarily daylight hours and will include rotations through evening and occasional night shifts. The schedule will also require coverage for rotating weekends and holidays.

Diagnostic Technologist Rates start at $24.02/hr. Diagnostic Technologist Adv. Rates start at $25.24/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all job responsibilities of Diagnostic Tech I.

  • Demonstrates competency of specialty equipment (O.R., Fluoro Procedures, etc.) and analyzes data promptly. Performs echocardiograms and lab draw functions if applicable.

  • Monitors quality control activities and demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in Diagnostic Imaging by providing patient care as defined by the most up-to-date protocols and procedures.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and can cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with the lead and management team.

  • Assist with the training of staff and student technologists.

  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.

  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.

  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialists in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.

Diagnostic Technician

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from an ARRT-approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.

  • Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT-certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

Diagnostic Technician Adv.

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.

  • 2 years of Diagnostic experience is required.

  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on the most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ARRT certified in Radiography.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Radiographer - MD
