JOB SUMMARY: Prepares preschool aged children and their families for Kindergarten success by preparing and implementing curriculum activities; conducting screening and assessments, maintaining routine and structure; and ensuring a safe, healthy learning environment.

Characteristics of an Effective Center Manager: The ideal candidate will be nurturing and responsive to each child and familys unique needs. They will show empathy and the ability to connect and care for children with differing abilities and families with varying circumstances. Head Start Teachers need to be organized and efficient, display sound technology skills, and be adaptable to change. They must be committed to making a difference in the lives of children, families, and the communities in which we live/serve.

Job Description: Promotes the school readiness and healthy growth and development of preschool children by planning activities and implementing curriculum to fidelity; conducting screening and assessments; and individualizing services and instruction to meet the needs of each enrolled child and family.

Qualifications: An associates, bachelors or advanced degree in child development or early childhood education* -or- An associates, bachelors or advanced degree in a related field* with 18 credit hours in coursework related to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool children -or- A bachelors degree and has been admitted into the Teach For America program, passed a rigorous early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach For America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America's professional staff.
