Summary: Hitachi Energy is seeking a Maintenance-Facilities and Opex Manager for its Crystal Springs, MS location. This role will be responsible for overall facilities and equipment maintenance. This position will also focus on capital improvement projects, implementation, start-up and manufacturing processes. In alignment with the North America Hub's vision and growth strategy, this role is responsible for driving sustainable and transformational change across the extended Factory Value Chain by using ITM system tools and methods to demonstrate improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost.
Duties & Responsibilities: Promote, develop and implement measures to achieve cost-effective improvements in operations, and ensure compliance with OSHA policies and regulations. Lead Process Engineering in the definition of maintenance plans for new production lines and recommend methods to improve reliability, ongoing maintenance and safety of equipment. Anticipate and introduce timely, effective actions to resolve problems. Defines maintenance policies and processes that drive maximum efficiency of equipment and production lines. Develops and implements life cycle management procedures for new and existing equipment. Develops and proposes continuous improvement projects for processes and production lines to reduce both ordinary and extraordinary maintenance. Ensures that global and local HSE guidelines and directives are implemented and understood to ensure the safety of people and resources. Define and lead the execution of CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) initiatives. Ensures that the area of responsibilities is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Participate in meetings and conferences and act as spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters. Provide guidance and arrange for training of staff. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates. Manage and document employee performance and initiate responsive actions. Drive continuous improvement using the fundamentals of our Lean management system - ITM. Partners with cross-functional teams to improve our continuous improvement culture focused on waste elimination throughout the extended value stream.
Focus on driving our 'learn and go-do' approach using ITM tools, including 5S, Visual Management, Kaizen, Daily Management, Problem Solving, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Leader Standard Work. Assist in the ITM maturity development process to advance the organization through the ITM phases of deployment. Participate/facilitate kaizen events for the organization and partner with the extended cross-functional organization on overall use of ITM tools to drive optimization of KPIs around Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost. Includes leading and facilitating ITM Process Excellence Kaizen events through the Value Stream. Performing a detailed gap analysis across site processes, performance and Operational Plans affecting any aspect of the manufacturing process. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in an operations and Maintenance role in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the US. TPM implementation experience highly preferred with implementation of robust preventative maintenance program. Experience with Lean manufacturing implementation with a special emphasis on change management and transforming maintenance programs utilizing TPM is highl preferred. Strong analysis and problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic manufacturing equipment and specifically with specialized production equipment such as vacuum ovens, winding machines, core cutting, standard motor, ovens, conveyors, sensors and controls, HVAC, security, fire protection, electrical, cranes, forklifts, and experience with PLC / Software preferred. Factory facilities maintenance experience. Experience in Capital Investment Projects. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred, but not required. Experience in challenging conventional thinking, approach and methodology and driving improvements, and the ability to lead teams through influence without authority.
