Responsibilities

  • What You'll Do:

  • The SCO Mentor will support our client, the Defense Security Cooperation University, as a part-time on-call Mentor in Crystal City, VA. This exciting opportunity will be a rewarding chance to learn and support our country in the Security Cooperation enterprise.

  • Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, working within the design and development of curriculum and course content for both classroom and online delivery methods utilizing Instruction Systems Design (ISD) principles, and managing deliverables. Candidates shall be furnished a workspace and a government computer for management purposes and must obtain a CAC and maintain eligibility for a government computer account on the Air Force Network (AFNET) and the Joint Service Provider Network (JSP). Candidate must have been a former senior field grade officers (O-6 or senior O-5) who have successfully served in multiple DoD embassy assignments while conducting Security Cooperation, either as a Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché (SDO/DATT) or SC officer.

  • As former practitioners in the subject matter, Mentors should be knowledgeable in several SC Areas of Concentration with particular emphasis on SCO Operations including embassy life. They should also be familiar with other SC AoCs and understand common SC programs.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentors must be adept and comfortable with sharing experiences, critiquing, mentoring, and instructing students including senior field grade officers.

  • Mentors must be willing to support the Operational Capstone for its entire duration (up to 10 days total) which includes preparation and recovery days and be prepared to work up to 10 hours each day.

  • Collaborate with SMEs to define and analyze learning objectives and needed outcomes.

  • Lead course design and the development of applying advanced instructional strategies; and,

  • Design courses with scenario-based or experiential learning activities using the latest rapid-development applications consistent with DSCU practices.

  • Previous experience designing scenarios and/or simulations and have a firm grasp of the concepts of immersion and engagement.

  • Ability to work with a cross functional team for adult learning design and development in an agile development environment including rapid authoring and complex multi-media modalities.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree required from an accredited institution (or higher degree).

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years' of direct experience in Embassy SCO Operations.

  • Must have served overseas on DOD Embassy assignment and a senior grade officer O-6 or Sr. O-5.

  • Other Requirements:

  • Must have or obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system.

  • Telework may be available depending on the specific assignment and must be approved by the Program Manager/Contract.

  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • Minimum four years of experience in leading/managing full spectrum learning design and development; including two years of specialized experience in:

  • Assisting in performing instructional development tasks supporting Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) of Distributed Learning in an Adult Classroom.

  • Providing indirect training development support and technical support to commanders, course managers, instructors, and course writers.

  • Operating hardware and software inconsonance with the ADDIE process in designing and developing training in an Adult Classroom. This position requires knowledge of learning theories and the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of the Instructional Systems Field.

  • English language skills to communicate and negotiate with vendors.
