Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Respiratory Therapy Crosby, MN Professional Patient Care Part Time Over, 12-hour Night Shift FTE: .9 FTE (72 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Posted 11/19/2024 Req # 13658 POSITION SUMMARY Respiratory Therapists are responsible for the performance of all aspects of general and critical respiratory care and selected diagnostic procedures on patient's ages infant through adult. They provide services to patients ranging in age from the very young (newborn) to the elderly to prevent, assess, alleviate or correct breathing disorders associated with medical, trauma or disease process. Responsible for treating inpatients and outpatients. Under a physician's order, therapists are responsible for evaluating patient needs, establishing treatment plans and providing treatments/services accordingly. Will work with patients on an individual basis using current technology and treatment techniques consistent with department and hospital policies and procedures. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, the RT will develop and implement specialized treatment programs as appropriate to meet patients needs. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Respiratory Therapists work closely with our physicians, nursing, other staff members and departments to assure optimal clinical outcomes. They exhibit highly complex problem-solving skills and may function without direct supervision. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Graduate of a two or four-year Respiratory Care Program (preferable through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) OR a Bachelor of Science degree in a health-related field with a certificate in Respiratory Care required. Prior clinical or fieldwork experience must provide clear evidence of clinical skills consistent with basic entry-level positions. License/Certificates: Must have Minnesota State License with the Board of Medical Practice or possess a work permit. NBRC certification preferred. American Heart Association BLS within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS (Provider or Instructor Level), NRP and PALS (or PEARS) certifications within 4 months of hire. Must provide a copy of the highest diploma or degree attained. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Ability to organize and prioritize all work. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for gathering information and data interpretation, which demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care. Competently perform ventilator care in an age-appropriate manner. Perform airway management and assist with patient transport. Perform oxygen therapy to improve or maintain oxygenation when indicated. Perform diagnostic procedures. Perform general respiratory care procedures appropriate to the age of the patient to improve respiratory status as ordered by the provider. Effectively communicates as an interdisciplinary team member. Responsible for following and completing clinical documentation per departmental policy to ensure department efficiency and maximize reimbursement. Responsible for pers nal development to ensure current knowledge in the area of Respiratory Care. Promote customer service by demonstrating polite, cooperative and respectful behavior to both internal and external customers. Assume responsibility for completing mandatory educational requirements. Safeguard security and confidentiality of data/information according to HIPAA guidelines. Carry out duties in a safe manner and use safety devices provided to protect self and others.
