Union County College Transfer Transition Coordinator in Cranford, New Jersey

Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees.

General Description:

Under the direction of the Dean of the Scotch Plains and Virtual Campus, the Transfer Transition Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating UCNJ graduates’ seamless transition to and ultimate success at the transfer institutions. This position provides comprehensive services to support our graduates in achieving their bachelor’s degrees. As a key connector among strategic areas of the College, the Transfer Transition Coordinator will provide the delivery of customer-focused transfer student support services. The successful candidate will be committed to enhancing transfer success, aiding graduates in completing their bachelor’s degrees, and fostering long-term academic and career achievements.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist UCNJ graduates in managing the bureaucratic obstacles of transfer.

• Collaborate with key College staff and faculty from various departments (e.g., ALC , Alumni Relations Coordinator, Career Services, Financial Aid, Transfer Advisor, and Union County College Foundation).

• Provide academic advising, tutoring, and student services for UCNJ graduates who transferred to senior colleges and universities.

• In collaboration with the Academic Learning Center, provide tutoring services as needed.

• Work with Career Services to provide transfer students with job and career opportunities for each field of study.

• Help students understand and stay on-track with pre-transfer requirements; create mechanisms to identify students at risk of falling off their plans.

• Provide financial aid workshops to assist graduates with filing FAFSA .

• Partner with the College’s Foundation to facilitate transfer scholarship awards.

• Manage and track graduates’ information in a central database.

• Track transfer trends – disaggregated by institution, programs, and student demographics. A focus on equity outcomes is critical.

• In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, create plan with specific goals to increase the rate if bachelor’s attainment by UCNJ graduates.

• Create and maintain Graduate Student Advisory Boards.

• Support joint strategic initiatives with four-year institutions to increase bachelor’s completion.

• Create and maintain a College webpage dedicated to the Transfer Transition Center.

• Answer questions and provide excellent service to UCNJ graduates regarding transfer and post-completion success.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:

• Experience in advising students regarding college completion and transfer.

• Experience in community colleges.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Some travel required.

• Possess the ability to travel and drive for business purposes and work some nights and weekends.
