This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range & Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is under the Acquisition Demonstration Project. Responsibilities Design's, specifies, and/or implement's devices (eg. special tools, fixtures, dies, gages) in a manufacturing environment to meet customer requirements. Serves as the fabrication methods, tool and die designer supporting the depots manufacturing and fabrication missions. Coordinate's various complex projects involving tooling, process design, testing, and/or optimization. Applies tools of industrial engineering to develop/document Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and/or work instructions to ensure efficient and accurate fabrication of components and assemblies. Utilizes computer design programs (eg. Computer Aided Design, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) to develop and design complex tooling/gages in accordance with customer specifications. Serves as technical adviser to project engineers, mechanical engineers, planner/estimator, fabrication support team members and production supervisors in the metal working process. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes designing tooling/gages utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software programs; interpreting drawings, and/or plans utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) to meet customer specification inspection criteria; developing recommendations to improve the depot design and/or fabrication process; and/or assist with advising on technical matters involving manufacturing processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-02). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. This position is under the Acquisition Demonstration Project. The NJ-03 broadband incorporates former (GS equivalents) GS-09 step 1 through GS-11 step 10 grade levels and salary levels. Pay increase within the band will be accomplished through the Contribution-based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS).
