Position Summary

This role is extension of the material handling job. Responsible for overseeing factory waste, oil check and refill, abnormal odor, and noise patrol.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Production by routing materials and items throughout the plant.

  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, production floor, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as type, style, color, or product code.

  • Unpacks and inspects material for correctness, damages, and shortages. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming or outgoing material to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders and/or other records.

  • Responsible for 3S and cleanliness of the raw material warehouse.

  • Participates in physical inventories.

  • Assists with hazard waste removal when needed. Must follow accepted processes and procedures. RCRA certificate required.

  • Operate various machinery including forklifts to handle materials and inventory.

  • Operate floor scrubber daily (week days). Focus on tour route and expand to other areas as overall appearance approves.

  • Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers when needed. Add liners as appropriate.

  • Learns and observes applicable company policies and safe practices and performs all duties assigned by supervisors.

  • Control plant waste by categorizing, weighting, swapping waste containers.

  • Direct and oversee activities of the secondary material handler.

  • Dailey check of machinery-oil levels, abnormal noises and/or odors. Refill oil when needed and report leaks or other abnormal noises or odors to maintenance manager or designee.

  • Must wear appropriate PPE.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, and to other employees of the organization. Ability to interact via telephone, take orders and follow instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
