Job Description Summary
This position performs various quality engineering functions and associated support tasks in developing knowledge and experience in the areas of Quality Assurance/Document Control/Design Control. This includes working to support Design Control projects as well as other duties in support of the Quality System, Design Control System, Document Control, Manufacturing, and the R&D/Product Development departments.

Job Summary
The Quality Engineering Intern will support the Quality department by participating in various projects to improve processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs within the manufacturing facility. The intern will gain exposure to all aspects of quality control including auditing, corrective action, and process validation. This position requires the ability to work independently, effectively communicate ideas, maintain detailed records, and use problem solving skills to address issues as they arise.
Responsibilities
Participates in project teams focused on improving product quality, reducing waste, and increasing throughput
Performs real time visual inspection of products
Conducts internal audits for ISO 13485 compliance
Authors reports summarizing results of experiments and investigations
Collects data and generates graphs using Microsoft Excel and other statistical software
Collaborates with cross functional departments such as Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Development
Provides feedback to management regarding product quality and process performance
Writes procedures and technical documents
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Junior standing or greater working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Previous experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies preferred
Ability to work independently and make effective decisions
Strong attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills
Problem solving skills
Experience in medical device industry preferred
Project management skills
Understanding of FDA regulations
Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Experience with SPC software
