Description
We have a new full-time position in Staff Development as a Front-Line Supervisor (FLS) Success Coach. Similar to our DSP Success Coaches, this position will provide coaching and mentoring to our team of Front-Line Supervisors across the agency.
Reporting to the Director of Staff Development, the FLS Success Coach is responsible for the training of FLS Competencies and agency policies and procedures to Residential and Day Hab supervisors. This includes both “soft skills” and technical skills needed to ensure that services we provide are high quality, safe, person-centered, fiscally secure, and in compliance with OPWDD and OSHA regulations, and with agency policies.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Orient, train, observe, coach and help assess new FLSs in their NADSP core competencies and FLS job description/evaluation tool, as well as coach veteran FLSs who need and/or request additional assistance. This includes but is not limited to:
Providing leadership and direction to FLSs in practicing the FLS competencies in daily communication and interactions with individuals, staff, supervisors, co-workers, family members and community members. This includes problem solving and team work.
Conducting observations and monitor FLSs who are being coached, assist them in addressing programmatic issues, provide supportive feedback and communicate concerns to appropriate Regional Directors, Director of Operations and Director of Staff Development for additional support.
Working with Director of Staff Development and other department heads throughout the agency to ensure training materials and real-life practices align.
Guiding in supervising DSPs using positive leadership skills, holding support sessions, leading staff meetings and providing supportive training, feedback, coaching and evaluations to all DSPs.
Guiding in utilizing resources both within and outside of their program(s).
Following HR policies in hiring, supervising, training, scheduling, evaluating, disciplining and termination of staff.
Creating physically and psychologically safe and supportive work and living environments, including:
Following safety procedures re: emergency plans, physical plants, vehicles, and money management.
Ensuring health needs of people supported are met:
working with clinical personal (therapists, doctors, nurses)
ensuring accurate implementation and documentation of all health plans (diet, minimal lift, behavioral, ADLs/ePARs) and medication needs
Ensuring people supported exercise their personal rights, choices, and opportunities in all aspects of life, including menu planning, outings, relationships, leisure activities, and other personal choices.
Following Life Plan (LP)/Staff Action Plan (SAP) process correctly, including facilitating and documenting person centered LP meetings, creating / editing / processing quality SAPs/ ensuring billing accuracy, ensuring staff implement and document daily goals and ensuring quality daily and monthly notes.
Ensuring successful internal and external audits.
Following sound fiscal/ budget procedures, including purchasing procedures and managing OT/approving timesheets correctly, and following ledger procedures.
Implementing efficient and effective program systems (schedules, delegation checklists, recreation calendars, chore charts, menu plans, etc.).
Effectively managing risk and crisis, following reporting protocols.
Mastery of technological systems (HR/Payroll Management, Learning Management, Electronic Health Records, Office 365, and other systems).
Attending bi-weekly RD team meetings to ensure coaching is kept up in alignment with changing policies and regulations. Attend RC meetings as needed.
Assisting with conducting in-person and virtual FLS trainings, including trainings as needed to implement agency-wide changes.
Assisting in spreading “best practices” between program and encourage consistency programmatic practices/systems.
Ensuring reportable HR, QM and CC incidents that are observed or heard about, are reported as required.
Attend virtual, internal and external trainings and conferences to stay abreast of changing regulations, best practices and trends in the field. Be able to guide FLSs to outside trainings as needed.
Maintaining time management and flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of managerial staff in 24-hour care settings (evening and weekend hours must be scheduled regularly).
HOURS: 40/must be flexible
STARTING SALARY: $ 66,247.67 per year
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree or FLS NADSP Certification or FLS RCWT Training Series Completion. required (Educational requirements must be met within 6 months of hire)
Five years of exemplary performance as an FLS (including supervisory) in a residential setting in the DD field.
POM interviewer training preferred.
Excellent computer skills & working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word & Outlook and electronic record systems required.
Must have an excellent understanding of OPWDD regulations, Arc Mid-Hudson policies and procedures, and programmatic processes and needs.
Must be knowledgeable in approaches working with people with a variety of diagnosis’ who may have learning, behavioral and/or health challenges.
Must be able to work well with teams and independently.
Must have the ability to manage and work positively with others, and work independently.
Excellent communication, organizational, time management, diplomacy and writing skills.
Valid driver’s license that meets the criteria of the agency’s automobile insurance policy; must be willing to travel to multiple counties.
Must be flexible and available to work days, evenings and weekends based on FLS schedules.
