Here, you will make an impact by:Developing and leading site-specific industrial hygiene programs and activities and initiatives on such topics as hearing conservation, ventilation management, exposure assessment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).Taking ownership of plant Health & Safety programs & training including but not limited to: Respiratory Protection, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, Confined Space.Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards.Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.Communicating effectively in written and oral forms with peers and others at varying levels within the organization. Presenting ideas well one on one, in small groups, and to larger audiences having the ability to convey the meaning and importance of EHS topics to non-EHS personnel and to influence others to take appropriate action based on such information. Actively seeking to continually improve communication and presentation skills.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionTwo (2) combined years of Industrial Hygiene / Health & Safety experience in a private, public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Masters degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institutionThree (3) or more years of experience working in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role in a manufacturing environmentExperience in implementation of comprehensive EHS management systemsExperience with hazard and risk assessments and experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with ergonomics assessments of physical capabilities, needs, and limitationsExperience with state and federal regulations including (e.g, OSHA, EPA, etc.)Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skillsAnalytical, leadership, project planning, program development and deployment skillsProfessional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with all employees within the plantExperience working on a cross-functional teamCSP, or CIH certification(s)Location: Cottage Grove, ILTravel: May include up to 10% domesticRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Dep rtment of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, "Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens.To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees' U.S. person status, as well as citizenship(s).The questions asked in this application are intended to assess this and will be used for evaluation purposes only.
