Actalent Electrical Test Engineer in Costa Mesa, California

Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

The Test Automation Engineer will design and deliver test systems for electronic products. The Test Engineer will identify gaps in test coverage and own the design and delivery of the hardware and software test solutions. Additional duties include test plan definition for new products and new features, supporting the software, firmware, and hardware design teams. The Test Automation Engineer will also design and execute PCBA and electrical components with hands-on testing and rework, as well as design and implement next-generation test automation hardware systems to facilitate fast and repeatable testing of products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver test systems for electronic products.

  • Identify gaps in test coverage.

  • Own the design and delivery of hardware and software test solutions.

  • Define test plans for new products and features.

  • Support software, firmware, and hardware design teams.

  • Design and execute PCBA and electrical components with hands-on testing and rework.

  • Design and implement next-generation test automation hardware systems.

  • Develop and validate test automation from component level to system level.

  • Manage product lifecycle of Test Automation Systems, including Requirements, Design, Build, Integration, and Deployment.

Essential Skills

  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals

  • Circuit design and analysis

  • PCB schematic capture and layout

  • Experience with Altium is a plus

  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Labview, Python, or C++

  • Experience in building automated test stations

  • Familiarity with Oscilloscope, PCBA, and hardware testing

  • Requirement management and test plan development

  • Component selection for test systems

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BS EE or equivalent

  • Experience in scripting to develop automation, with Labview preferred and Python acceptable

  • Experience in developing 8+ layer PCBs through the entire product lifecycle

  • Ability to design and deliver complete test solutions

  • Experience in developing test and validation strategies

Work Environment

Supporting Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The Test Engineering team currently has 65 team members. Programs this role is supporting include Roadrunner, Ghost, Anvil, and Fury. This role offers a great opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technology supporting the defense of the US. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
