Minimum/Required Qualifications BS/BA in plant biotechnology or a closely related field Experience in sterile technique, media preparation, and plant tissue culture Experience in molecular biology (including gel electrophoresis, PCR methods, and plasmid construction) Experience using a microscope to capture images and record data Three years of experience with computer and online tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, graphic display of information, and online searches of the scientific literature Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Ability to clearly communicate scientific concepts and results to diverse audiences Excellent teamwork in the form of responsible, timely, and congenial cooperation and communication with project staff and principal investigators orally and in writing Demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace environment for individuals with a range of different backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and/or life experiences Position Duties 50%: Design and carry out transformation experiments on hops and trees. 25%: Innovate and test new means for gene editing and transformation in hop and trees, including to create and modify relevant genetic constructs. 15%:Analyze data, present reports, prepare and deliver conference talks, author/co- author manuscripts, help to write grant proposals, and prepare posters/presentations for conferences. Work with the supervisor to ensure research findings are available and accessible to the public. 5%:Assist with lab organization and clean up, which may include supervision of students and technicians. Interact respectfully with all team members and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. 5%: Read and analyze scientific literature. Drive to greenhouses and field sites as dictated by research needs.
