Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Analyst Programmer, competency level 3, position for Enrollment Management at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
The mission of Enrollment Management is to set and fulfill enrollment goals, recruit and retain students, provide access, and care for students throughout their college career.
This position serves as a member of the Enrollment Management IT staff, which supports the Office of Admissions, Scholarships Office, Financial Aid Office, Degree Partnership Programs, Office of the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, Pre-College Programs, and other stakeholders as needed.
This position primarily administers and supports the Technolutions Slate Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) system for the Enrollment Management division, with an emphasis on undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining Slate applications, portals, forms, integrations, and automations; ensuring data integrity and security; and assisting units with business process improvements that leverage Slate functionality.
In addition, this position provides senior-level expertise in validating, testing, and optimizing other mission-critical systems and processes in Enrollment Management. The incumbent is expected to act with significant autonomy—making decisions and owning the full technical scope of assigned projects. The role also involves coordinating or leading efforts with internal IT resources, administrative staff, and external vendors or consultants.

Key Responsibilities
35% Systems Administration
Maintain configurations and content in Slate portals, forms, integrations, and interfaces to correct defects, adapt to changing business needs, and remain compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the technical owner of mission-critical Slate configurations, including data models, query templates, and user permissions for multiple academic programs.
Administer and report on data, security, forms, portals, and applications as needed.
Develop, configure, and maintain population selections, watch lists, alerts, and business rules required for Slate communications.
Ensure comprehensive documentation of all custom configurations and processes, following internal standards.
35% Systems Development
Design, develop, and test custom applications, integrations, and automations in Slate, using native configuration and supplementary programming languages (e.g., SQL , JavaScript, HTML ).
Partner with Enrollment Management units to define requirements, recommend technical solutions, and implement them.
Act as a primary technical architect for Slate-related initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and well-documented.
Lead code reviews and mentor junior staff to elevate coding and systems-development practices.
10% End-User Support
Provide high-quality technical support and training for Slate users of varying technical backgrounds.
Communicate effectively with key partners to clarify system regulations, policies, and procedures.
Respond to Tier 2 and Tier 3 help tickets that require advanced troubleshooting or custom development.
10% Documentation & Process Improvement
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation (e.g., knowledge-base articles, Confluence pages, diagrams) for Slate configurations, processes, and integrations.
Promote consistent use of internal documentation standards across the team.
Evaluate emerging technologies that could enhance or replace existing processes, and make recommendations for implementation.
5% Slate Instance Participation
Collaborate with the broader Slate instance development team on cross-institutional projects and code reviews.
Provide advanced guidance when broader institutional changes in Slate require reconfiguration or redevelopment of Enrollment Management–specific functionality.
5% Lead Work & Other Duties
Plan and guide the work of three System Analysts, providing technical leadership and ensuring best practices are followed.
Engage in process-improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, security, and user satisfaction.
What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.
What You Will Need
Demonstrated experience in software engineering, application development, and/or advanced systems analysis, including responsibility for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex enterprise-level solutions. Must have expertise in architecting, integrating, and optimizing enterprise applications, with a proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.Demonstrated experience “owning” or serving as the primary technical administrator/architect for a mission-critical CRM or SIS environment.
Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to produce detailed technical and process documentation.
Ability to interpret policy and procedure and explain them effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement them with high accountability.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business/management information systems, or a similar area of study.
Five or more years of direct experience with Technolutions Slate CRM software administration, customization, and configuration.
In-depth experience with SQL , Javascript, Python, XML and other web-development tools (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Groovy).
Demonstrated success in higher education or government IT settings, particularly those involving student information systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner).
Familiarity with academic policies and procedures in higher education.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Typically, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional work on weekends or evenings to provide post migration touch testing.
