SUNY Cortland Instructor or Assistant Professor - Communication Disorders & Sciences in Cortland, New York

Position Summary:

The SUNY Cortland Communication Disorders & Sciences ( CDS ) Department has an opening for a full-time faculty member and Audiologic Services Coordinator. General responsibilities include teaching courses related to hearing, hearing sciences, hearing-related interventions in our undergraduate Speech and Hearing Sciences program and in our graduate Speech-Language Pathology program, clinical training and supervision of graduate clinicians conducting hearing screenings and developing and cultivating an active research agenda. Other responsibilities include conducting hearing screenings and evaluations with members of the campus and surrounding communities, assisting in academic advising with undergraduate students, and service to the CDS Department, School of Professional Studies, and the University.

Major Responsibilities:

Teaching:

Expertise in the areas of hearing anatomy, hearing science, audiology, and aural rehabilitation is highly preferred, but all areas of expertise will be considered. Multiple areas of expertise are preferred.

Service:

Service to the department and college.

Scholarship/Research:

Research and/or scholarship ( NOTE : Instructor and Assistant Professor ranks have different requirements. Please inquire.)

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Instructor Rank:

  • Doctor of Audiology (AuD) with evidence of teaching.

Assistant Professor Rank:

  • Doctor of Audiology (AuD) with evidence of research and scholarship, and teaching,

  • or Ph.D. in speech-language pathology/communication disorders, audiology, or related field.

A doctoral candidate with all but dissertation ( ABD ) status will be considered with work initiated on dissertation and designated completion date within 12 months of start date.

Certification:

Instructor Rank:

Hold or be eligible for American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( ASHA ) Certificate of Clinical Competence – Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC - SLP ) or Audiology ( CCC -A).

Assistant Professor Rank:

Hold or be eligible for American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( ASHA ) Certificate of Clinical Competence – Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC - SLP ) or Audiology ( CCC -A).

Licensure:

Instructor Rank:

Hold or be eligible for New York State license from the Office of the Professions to practice as a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist.

Assistant Professor Rank:

Hold or be eligible for New York State license from the Office of the Professions to practice as a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist.

Preferred Qualifications:
