Recreation Assistant

Duties: Serves as "manager on duty." Oversees operation and safety of Recreation Center patrons. Opens and closes the facility, ensuring it is safe, secure, and clean. Executes facility schedule, including directing staff coverage and setting up and taking down equipment for classes, events, programs, and rooms. Regularly inspects the facility to ensure cleanliness, appropriate and safe operation, proper patron conduct, and staff accountability. Serves as facility lead, supervising on-duty operational staff. May have to ensure patron accountability and delivery of disciplinary actions for unruly or unsafe patrons. Serves as incident manager coordinating response for disciplinary, medical, and facility issues.

Ensures outstanding service by providing a friendly, courteous environment. Acts as liaison for the City to the public by answering the telephone and by providing general information regarding any aspect of the Recreation Center and/or Parks and Recreation general information.

Supports general department administration and outreach. Assists with outreach materials, including news releases, operational updates, creating flyers and other promotional information. Maintains the recreation center brochure. Types and proofs correspondence, reports, and schedules for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Responsible for keeping the Recreation Center message board and bulletin boards up-to-date and informative.

Serves as lead Parks and Recreation operational technician, operating registration and software, which includes, but is not limited to, course registration, membership, pass sales, daily visits, merchandise, facility booking, and park reservations.

Responsible for financial transactions, including daily cash balancing and assisting with collecting insufficient funds and account updates for ACH billing. Leads front desk operation.

Responsible for maintaining inventory of items sold at the front desk, organizing and arranging front desk merchandise for customer appeal, recommending suggested retail prices to Recreation Center Manager, and ordering inventory items as needed.

Responsible for keeping the front desk training guide updated for new employees and reviewing with and training all new front desk employees or Recreation Associates for assistance when needed.

Responsible for entering lap logs, river logs, milers logs, fitness certifications, and rock wall certifications into the computer and generating reports. Posts in an appropriate area on a monthly basis. Keeps art wall schedule current and notifies artists and/or non-profit groups of the month scheduled.

Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements: Skilled at listening, interpreting requests, communicating with the public in person and on the phone, and providing high-quality customer service. Skilled in the use of computers, copying machines, and calculators. Ability to work in high-pressure situations and serve as incident manager when necessary. Ability to supervise and delegate work to part-time employees. Ability to deal with and monitor the general public. Ability to greet the public. Ability to communicate. Ability to generate organized written and creative publicity material and spreadsheet documents. Ability to work well with co-workers.

Other Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Colorado Drivers license.

Wage: $15.46-$20.42

Shift: This is a full-time position. Evening and Weekend hours required.
