PURPOSE
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform experiment, data analysis, and simulation to characterize the thermal energy out of plasmonic nanoparticles coupled with photocatalyst. The postdoc will publish the results in research articles and conferences under the supervision of the PI. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work closely with the PI and conduct the given tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research : 90%
Characterize the thermal energy distribution out of plasmonic nanoparticles coupled with photocatalyst using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging, ultrafast pump-probe laser technique, frequency/time domain temperature reflection, and thermodynamics simulation.
Prepare micro/nano structured plasmonic array patterns using cleanroom techniques in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratory (SNL) to use the user facility of the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT). Make the electrochemical cell using the plasmonic array patterns for water splitting.
Perform near-surface imaging, including photocatalysts induced bubble generation and thermal energy induced boiling, evaporation.
Publish research articles, and support preparing funding proposals.
Present research outcomes at conferences.
Mentoring: 5%
Provide mentoring to graduate/undergraduate students under the guidance of PI
Lab Administration/Other: 5%
Perform lab administration under the guidance of PI.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD is required at the time of application in engineering (mechanical, chemical, material science, electrical) or science of physics or chemistry.
An excellent publication record in peer-reviewed journal articles and independent research capability.
Have physical/optics experiment, cleanroom technologies for micro/nano structures, computer programming (numerical simulations) in thermal/heat transfer
Good communication skills.
Knowledge in plasmonics, pump-probe laser technique, thermodynamics, and others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Expertise in optical experiment and nanofabrication.
SALARY: $4,000.00 - $4,166.67 MONTHLY ($48,000.00 - $50,000.00 ANNUALLY, APPROXIMATELY)
