Naval Facilities Engineering Command ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in Coronado, California

Summary You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will esure installation compliance with the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) program by providing environmental review for proposed projects. You will serve as subject matter expert for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and ensures that the NEPA process is incorporated into all applicable activities and planning. You will perform quality assurance and oversight activities on contract-produced NEPA documents. You will serve as technical liaison between the Conservation and Planning office and other stakeholders. You will provide interpretation, guidance, program leadership, and training for the development of planning efforts and their associated NEPA documents (e.g., identifies required level of NEPA review). You will provide specialized expertise for projects with complex requirements like permitting, consultation, surveys. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing documents, such as Categorical Exclusions, pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); 2) Tracking environmental planning aspects of projects such as consultation and permitting; 3) Working on interdisciplinary teams and participating in discussions with stakeholders to resolve project planning concerns; and 4) Maintaining project records, databases, and administrative records.
