Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Program Staff Associate is responsible for planning, administration, supervision and implementation of all programming for youth and adult sports. Duties include assisting with program development and implementation with a focus on program instruction for people with adaptive needs to include the Sensory Room and Teaching Kitchen programming. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Overall responsibility for administration, supervision and implementation of programming for adult and youth sports, adaptive programs that include the teaching kitchen and the sensory room.

· Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all staff and volunteers relative to program responsibilities.

· Plan, organize and instruct a variety of recreation and athletic activities for youth, adults and seniors.

· Collaborate with other staff to provide youth engagement and family programs during school vacation weeks and days.

· Act as a liaison between parent and program regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to assure that a safe, fun and quality program is provided in all areas.

· General oversight of programs in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association.

· Responsible for supporting department revenue growth and overall enhancement and increase of programs and services.

· In coordination with Executive Director, accountable for department budget development and management for designated facility, Ensure a strong fiscal position and appropriate resource allocation.

· Responsible for the overall facility appearance, and related equipment.

· Maintain accurate records of recreation program activities and attendees.

· Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.

· Implement programs that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.

· Assists with the financial development of Annual Campaign.

· Serves as a member of the total staff team. Supports total Association events as designated.

· Attend all required training and meetings.

· All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Must be at least 21 year’s of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.

· Must have a genuine interest in working with and enriching lives of children and adults. Experience working with people with adaptive needs a plus.

· Must have at least one year experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training and staff management.

· Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.

· Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.

· High level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of member service and programming.

· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.

· Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.

· Must have current CPR/AED, First Aid or the ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to sit and stand for extended duration of shift.

· Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.

· Must be able to lift up to forty pounds.

· Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).

· Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

· Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).

· Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs
