Guthrie Interventional Radiologic Technologist - Per Diem in Corning, New York
Position Summary: The primary responsibility is to set up and assist the radiologist in performing a variety of special studies, including interventional procedures, which require sterile technique and the introduction of a catheter into designated areas of the body.
Education, License & Cert: High school with additional skills training (certification). Two years. ARRT(R) certification required, Advanced certification ARRT(VI) preferred. NYS Radiology Tech License
Experience: Minimum of one year radiological technologist experience. Prior experience in an OR or IR lab experience preferred.
Essential Functions: 1. Practices sterile technique. Assists the interventionist with procedures, performs scrub duties according to standard care plan, physician preference, policy and procedure. 2. Prepares sterile table and environment for angiographic procedures. 3. Positions patient to get anatomic structures on film. Positioning is critical because of the injection of a contrast agent. (Since multiple injections are required for all procedures, you are limited as to the amount of contrast being used for the total procedure. Consequently, positioning and setting up of proper radiographic technique must be done accurately.) 4. Recognizes anatomic structures in order to function in VIR lab. 5. Learns computer functions and controls in VIR / Specials area.
Other Duties: 1. Maintains clean work area. 2. Applies pressure to needle site after procedure and applies pressure bandage. 3. Cleans room between procedures. 4. Complete understanding of the functionality of the computer system as it relates to your area. 5. Scheduling biopsies with imaging guidance, coordinating procedure with imaging modality. 6. Back fill the Radiology department as needed encompassing the duties of a Rad Tech I.
