Nursing Externship

MUST HAVE COMPLETED 1 YEAR / 2 CLINICAL SEMESTERS OF NURSING PROGRAM

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: FEBRUARY 14, 2025

This position is for nursing students that have completed their first year of an RN program at an approved School of Nursing in the State of Mississippi. This is a mandatory 320 hour, Full-Time Extern Program that consists of days and/or nights and 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

Education: The student nurse must have successfully completed one academic year or clinical semesters of clinical courses in nursing & be in good standing with the school of nursing.

Experience: None necessary. Must be able to perform all phases of the job at a satisfactory level.

Physical and Mental Efforts

Physical:

Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, and understandable language.

Must have a steady, unassisted gait.

Must be able to stand and/or walk at least 8 continuous hours.

Must be able to see well enough to safely read medication labels, warnings, and syringe markings.

Must be able to hear well enough to auscultate blood pressures, lung/heart sounds, etc..

Must be able to assist in transporting a patient in a bed/wheelchair.

Must be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50-lbs

Mental

This position requires periods of concentration with close attention to detail and results of accomplished tasks; occasional opportunity for diversification of tasks with little or no relief.

Environmental and Working Conditions

Work in a modern, well-equipped environment. Interact with fellow employees, patients, and the public on a daily and constant basis. Subject to irregular hours and weekends as needed. Exposed to disease and infection. Required close contact with critically ill patients.
