The position will provide for the care and prevention of athletic injuries, rehabilitation of injuries, management and care of injuries. Assist in the organization & administration of health care services, provide for the education & counseling of athletes and students to all sports assigned. This role will support The University of Miami Track & Field and Cross Country teams, subject to change based on department needs. This under the written protocol and supervised by the Team Physician as directed by the State of Florida Athletic Trainers Act. Additionally, assist in the Education of Students within the Athletic Training Undergraduate Major.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arrange a pre-season visit with the head coach of your assigned sport and the Head Athletic Trainer to discuss procedures, schedules and expectations.

  • Provide the Head Athletic Trainer with an updated roster and schedule for competition and practices.

  • Arrange pre-season physicals for your assigned sports and have all athlete files in proper order.

  • Direct coverage of all practices and games including travel where applicable.

  • Arrange a student trainer assistant for each sport through the Head Athletic Trainer.

  • Recognition and evaluation of injuries, injury management – treatment, injury prevention rehabilitation, organization and administration, education and counseling of all athlete on your assigned teams.

  • Maintain a daily injury report. Communicate this with the head coach and Strength & Conditioning Head Coach every day. Provide the Head Athletic with a copy of this report. An injury as defined as a condition that limits the athlete in any way and has been written up on the injury report form.

  • Provide the Head Athletic Trainer with written documentation of all physician referrals.

  • Assist in the institutional and NCAA drug testing of athletes on your teams.

  • Be available to members of the coaching staff to assist in the recruiting process.

  • Provide the Head Athletic Trainer written procedures for emergency transport of an injured athlete from our various practice and game facilities.

  • Provide Assistant with other sports as the need arises.

All Duties described below are supervised by the Team Physician as developed in a written protocol as dictated by the State of Florida Athletic Trainers Act.

Minimum qualificationsBachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field and two years of experience. Required to have NATA-BOC Certification Eligible for Florida Licensure as an Athletic Trainer.OTHER CREDENTIAL preferredCSCSPESATRGRASTONJOINT MOBECTPhysical Therapist must be eligible for Florida Licensure

Bachelors degree required with two years of experience working with collegiate athletes. Must be BOC Certified. Must be eligible for Florida Licensure as an Athletic Trainer under the written protocol and supervised by the Team Physician as directed by the State of Florida Athletic Trainers Act.
