The Associate Director, Athletic Compliance assists in directing the compliance program for the University’s Athletic Department. Moreover, the incumbent develops procedures and policies to monitor and ensure compliance with all NCAA and Conference rules and regulations. An employee in this position provides training and education to University staff and athletes regarding compliance issues. Moreover, the Associate Director, Athletic Compliance verifies student eligibility to participate in University athletics and investigates and reviews alleged NCAA and Conference rule violations. Further, this employee serves as a liaison between the athletic program and the NCAA.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for monitoring recruiting activity through ARMS software including contact and evaluation logs, phone logs and travel schedules submitted by coaches looking for impermissible recruiting activity.

  • Monitor and approve official and unofficial visits for all sports.

  • Responsible for complimentary admissions for ticketed home contests for PSAs and reviewing SA-guest complimentary admissions.

  • Coordinate monitoring of all recruiting reconciliation documents and serve as Compliance liaison with the Business Office on all reconciliation matters.

  • Responsible for approving and monitoring recruiting/scouting services and recruiting materials for all sports.

  • Responsible for monitoring time management plans, all countable athletically related activity of student-athletes including review of practice logs and conducting in-person spot checks for all teams.

  • Responsible for monitoring travel squad for each team, itinerary for road trip, per diem/meals during travel.

  • Responsible for monitoring, interpreting, and documenting student-athlete playing and practice seasons.

  • Responsible for Teamworks/ARMS software and all activities that take place in Teamworks/ARMS including playing and practice seasons, activity logs, form assignments, and new staff education.

  • Track and approve student-athlete participation in summer leagues and outside competition.

  • Coordinate and monitor student-athlete employment program.

  • Work with Department of Housing and Residential Life to secure housing for student-athletes as requested by coaching staff during regular academic year, summer and all special assignments (bowl game requirements, preseason training for specific sports, rehabilitation, and summer school housing).

  • Monitor and track all of the following activities: occasional meals, institutional and noninstitutional camps/clinics, letterman/participation awards and all other awards/prize money, Athletic Department outside group facility rental, donation request review and institutional/non-institutional local sports clubs.

  • Serve as Compliance SAAC liaison.

  • Assist with research of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations.

  • Assist with the auditing of various compliance areas as assigned.

  • Some travel required.

  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, ACC, institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Assist with game day operations in Football, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball.

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as directed by the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive recruiting monitoring system for telephone calls, text messages, official and unofficial visits, off-campus recruiting; reviewing and approving all coach reimbursement requests and financial documents from business office; monitoring time management plans, CARA, and playing and practice seasons; research and assist with interpretations for coaches, staff, student-athletes and general public; and assist with rules education for coaches, staff, student-athletes, parents, university staff, boosters and general public. Will also oversee all aspects of student-athlete on campus housing for the athletic department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree is preferred with a minimum two years of experience in applying Division I NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Experience using/administering NCAA compliance tools such as CA and LSDBi and other applicable NCAA programs and computer software.

  • Experience and knowledge working with NCAA Bylaws.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform accurate, detailed work under time restraints.

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate or Master’s Degree,

  • Two to three years of full-time experience working in NCAA Division I athletics.

  • Knowledge of Atlantic Coast Conference rules.

  • Experience using ARMS monitoring software.

  • Experience using Teamworks software

  • Experience using PeopleSoft software.
