Golden State Foods Intern - Product Development in Conyers, Georgia

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Conduct product development tasks as assigned by PD staff, complete mock product presentation to PD and sales staff

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete detailed orientation encompassing liquids and ketchup production, QA/Lab, packaging, Prepared Foods/Meats, Sales, PD staff, HR/GMP’s.

  • Work with assigned PD mentor to learn basic PD lab protocols and procedures.

  • Weigh and prepare various sauces, salad dressings, sandwich spreads, shake and smoothie syrups, etc. as assigned.

  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of all tests (viscosity, brix, water activity, yields, for any product produced

  • Work with Corporate Chef as available on internal customer presentations.

  • Work with PD mentor to research, ideate, develop a product for a mock customer including support materials (potential menu gap analysis, menu placement ideas, etc) then give an oral and visual presentation to PD and Sales

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: must have completed at least one year of college with a focus toward food science, manufacturing, culinary arts or a similar emphasis

    Experience:

    A strong interest in understanding food processing and the process of product development involved with the manufacturing of liquid sauces and dressing type products

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of:

  • Basic PC word processing/ spreadsheet software

  • Basic Food Preparation Techniques/Safe Food Handling GMP’s

  • Basic Research Skills

  • Creativity and Passion to make food better

  • Basic Presentation Skills

    Skill and ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with mentor verbally and in writing

  • Read, process and follow written direction with a high degree of accuracy

  • Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
