Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. is looking for a Director of Government Relations to lead the government and industry relations team. This position will drive the organization, strategy development, and business integration of a team focused on the development of regional and international codes and standards affecting the lighting and window shade industries. The successful applicant will be a proven collaborative leader within a Government Relations organization, and a knowledge expert on how codes and standards are used to support business growth. The standards development and government relations organization at Lutron is a global team of experts driven to keep Lutron ahead of key codes, standards and regulatory changes, and influence codes and standards development in the best interest of Lutron's customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain market access to Lutron products/services
  • Create new business opportunities
  • Work closely with the technical teams to comment on proposed laws and regulations
  • Work closely with standards, compliance, product management, engineering to establish potential impact to the business
  • Participate and contribute to Trade Assoc., Alliances and other Industry groups
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key elected and appointed officials and their staff
  • Identify and hire great talent

  • Bachelors Degree required with a min cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Minimum of ten years of work experience in a relevant area: A range of corporate and/or trade association positions or government positions Extended experience involved with committees/boards or equivalent Experience working in several countries through assignments, industry meetings, trade show attendance etc.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with others
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels and across geographies/cultures, public speaking experience is a plus
  • Experience in leading and developing team members
  • Travel required 25% domestic and international
