Material Handler - Under the direction of the Operational Team Leader and/or general supervision, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Class IV Electric Forklifts and equipment to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient packaging, movement and storage of packaging materials and finished goods. This position provides packaging and sorting support to the manufacturing operation. Job Responsibilities: Comply with safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including BRC Food Safety Standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental policies and procedures. Adhere to documented quality standards and procedures to support and protect our partners brands including performing Inspections and Test Methods (ITMs) at specified frequencies to identify and contain quality defects. Inspect in-process ends and raw materials to ensure quality attributes and specifications are consistently maintained. Ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance tasks within an established computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and participate in daily maintenance, 5S, and general housekeeping activities. Perform equipment troubleshooting as necessary to the level of training provided, to eliminate packaging defects. Assist with defective product isolation and sorting. Always operates mobile equipment in a Safe manner. Perform forklift Safety checks and communicate / documents out-of-compliance conditions. Complete the correct material handling movements of raw material, work in process, finished goods & recyclable components within the plant, ensuring complete accuracy of transactions and zero damage to materials. Other responsibilities as assigned. Skills & Competencies: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Possess the ability to learn and facilitate new job tasks. Mechanical aptitude to help identify and correct operational issues. Able to use small hand tools and measuring devices. Intermediate math skills. Familiar with lean manufacturing practices. Basic computer skills. Teamwork - ability to work together with personnel at all levels. Demonstrated ability to motivate others with a positive can do attitude and maintain a safe, cohesive work environment. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED Forklift Experience Work experience in manufacturing Preferred Qualifications: High volume manufacturing a plus Site Specific Qualifications: Ability to work 12-hour shifts, daylight and/or overnight shifts, as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
