Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking a Quality Control Manager to oversee the quality control program for a US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) levee project in Sacramento, CA. The QCM will manage the onsite work and ensure all required standards and specifications are met. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, contractors, and USACE representatives to ensure compliance with USACE and federal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Implement and manage the project-specific Quality Control Plan (QCP)
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with project specifications, codes, and standards
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor compliance and identify potential issues using the three phases of control
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken
  • Coordinate with USACE, project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve quality issues
  • Provide training and guidance to project staff on quality control procedures and best practices
  • Prepare and submit quality control reports to senior management and USACE
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on all project sites
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on quality control matters
  • Review and approve materials and equipment to be used on projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in the following positions: Project Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer or Construction Manager
  • Minimum of 2 years as a QC Manager
  • Construction Quality Management for Contractors (QCM) certification
  • Level 2 Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) per EM-385-1 requirements
  • Familiar with EM-385-1 requirements
  • Experienced in USACE levee construction and repair
  • Experienced in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance, and
  • sustainability
  • Strong knowledge of USACE quality control procedures and federal construction standards
  • Proven experience with construction inspection and testing processes
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be capable of reading, writing, and conversing fluently in the English language
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
