Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Concord, California

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to manage in-house payroll processing and support our accounts payable operations. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll for all employees while assisting in the verification and reconciliation of invoices and purchase orders. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

This position is contract to hire with a employee centric family run business. They put their employees first!

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

  • Process in-house payroll for approximately 90 employees, including both salaried and hourly staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations.

  • Review, verify, and audit timecards for accuracy before payroll submission.

  • Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries, including timecard corrections and policy clarifications.

  • Maintain payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Assist the Accounts Payable team by reviewing, verifying, and matching approximately 200 invoices per week with corresponding purchase orders.

  • Reconcile discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders, collaborating with vendors and internal departments to resolve issues.

  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice approvals and processing in the accounting system.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and/or accounts payable.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll and manual timekeeping .

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Dynamics, or similar systems).
