Job Title: Sr. Controls Engineer

Job Description

We offer a 9-month contract-to-hire opportunity for a S r. Controls Engineer with a custom machine builder in Walker, Michigan. In this role, you will bring 1-2 years of mentorship or leadership experience, with a career path to advance into a Lead Controls role overseeing 4-5 mid-level engineers. You will work closely with the Controls Engineering Manager and eventually take on responsibilities similar to the Controls Design Manager for the programming team.

You must have experience with both Siemens and other PLCs from start to finish. Designing electrical schematics and drawings, as well as programming Fanuc and ABB robots from the ground up, is essential. The role includes 25-30% travel, half of which is local and the other half within the US, with all expenses covered. Expect 5-10 hours of overtime per week consistently.

Hard Skills

  • PLC programming from scratch (Siemens and other PLCs)

  • Electrical design in AutoCAD Electrical or similar software

  • Robotic programming from ground up (Fanuc, ABB)

  • Custom machine design experience

Soft Skills

  • Mentorship or leadership experience

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
