Mettler Toledo LLC Welder - 1st Shift in Columbus, Ohio

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities The Masstron Producing Organization (MTMS) designs, develops, and produces products within the METTLER TOLEDO Vehicle and Heavy Capacity product families and serves in direct support of the Vehicle Scale Strategic Business Unit. The MTMS Welder works from production orders, routings, blueprints and process documentation to appropriately layout, fit, and weld fabricated materials to create a formed structure. The welder also inspects the structure for acceptable finish (material, fit, and weld quality), confirms product in the MRP system when necessary, and delivers product to the next internal/external customer. In this role, you will also enhance facility performance through proactive actions relating to: Layout, fit, and weld materials using support tools such as production orders, standard work, blueprints, and other documents related to the Engineering/Customer specification. Maintain accurate records such as production orders, data collection, and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) sheets. Maintenance all welding equipment used in the department. Maintain stock control, pull items for orders, work in other departments, and complete other related duties as required to fulfill customer orders. Perform daily activities safely and identify opportunities for improvement. Actively participate in facility 5S and Lean initiatives. Safely operate fork trucks and cranes. Maintain quality throughout the weld process. What You Need to Succeed You must be a High School graduate with excellent math and reading / writing ability, have prior fork-lift / crane certification (preferred); the ability to be certified required. Current or past AWS certification for D1.1 or D1.5 preferred. Also you must have: *Ability to read and interpret standard AWS (American Welding Society) symbols. *Ability to work effectively with torches, cutters, staplers, hand/pneumatic tools, and hand tools (hammers, torque wrench, crow bars, etc.). *Ability to work with fixtures. *Ability to safely operate Jib and overhead cranes. *Ability to operate welding equipment. *Ability to perform quality inspections based on set expectations. *Ability to safely operate a forklift. *Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record. *Good verbal communication skills. *Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills. *Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office. *Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques. *Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements. *Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment. *Ability to inspect own work and the work of others. *Strong organizational skills with a focus on details. *Ability to work overtime when required (some on weekends). *Ability to work from order schedules. *Ability to follow directions. *Ability to follow through in completing assignments.
