The Role

Senior tax manager to lead income tax audit defense and appeals.

The Main Responsibilities

• Manage income tax audit defenses, audit strategy, including researching technical issues and assisting with maintaining compliance with state and local tax laws.

• Act as primary point of contact to income tax auditors in the U.S., Canada, and EMEA and internal stakeholders for all tax audit-related matters.

• Negotiate audit plan, methodology, and scope with income tax auditors.

• Responsible for drafting responses to the tax authority Information Document Requests (IDRs), which includes gathering information from other groups within the Company.

• Assess audit risk when dealing with the auditors and develop negotiation strategies in resolving audits.

• Liaise with the Company’s income tax compliance and provision, transfer pricing, and tax planning teams to ensure all aspects of the Company’s tax audits are properly managed, and to provide regular updates regarding audit status

• Manage outside tax advisors and tax counsel

• Identify, quantify, and document uncertain tax positions

• Draft and file protests and appeals of proposed assessments or final audit results.

• Assist with coordination of APAC tax audit strategy with local finance teams

• Other duties as needed.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

• Minimum 7 years federal income tax experience or the equivalent in training and education (e.g., C.P.A., J.D. or Masters in Tax).

• Familiarity with IRS audit process and procedures.

• Strong technical working knowledge of corporate taxation in complex multi-jurisdictional corporation;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to successfully communicate tax positions to tax authorities

• Organizational and analytical skills

• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks 

Preferred

• CPA, Master’s Degree in Taxation, or JD

• Technical working knowledge of ASC 740

• Proficiency in CorpTax, SAP, OneStream

• Computer-related skills (i.e. Excel, Alteryx, etc.) 

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$111480 - $148630 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$117340 - $156450 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$123210 - $164280 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$129080 - $172100 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
