As a Vice President Special Credits Lead in Dealer Commercial Services, you will be a leader on the Special Credits Team expected to serve as a Credit Executive and manage a portfolio of marginal to adversely graded credit relationships. In this leadership role you will act with the purpose of improving the overall quality of the portfolio through negotiating satisfactory repayment/exposure management, obtaining additional collateral, and/or restructuring credit facilities. With guidance, you will be expected to structure deals appropriately within your credit authority and provide guidance and recommendations on deals outside of your credit authority. You will be expected to work independently and be a key resource concerning credit issues, bankruptcy and policy expertise. This position plays an integral role in the management of problem credits focusing on risk management and maximization of recovery on Dealer Commercial Services loans to automobile dealerships.
The Dealer Commercial Services team specializes in floorplan lines of credits, real estate loans, acquisition loans, working capital loans, and treasury products to our 450+ franchised retail automobile dealer group relationships. We are searching for a Special Credits Lead Credit Officer. The Special Credits Lead Credit Officer is recognized for superior commercial lending knowledge and analytical abilities. You must possess and apply a broad understanding of the business environment including the auto industry, current events, and economic cycles.
Job Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of problem credits and provide ongoing oversight of credit management activities across the team including guidance on policy issues, procedures and risk ratings
Interface regularly with borrowers, financial advisors, and outside counsel in order to generate the best solution for repayment of credit exposure
Formulate strategies and present recommendations to internal and senior management on distressed situations in either an advisory or managed capacity
Demonstrate an expert understanding of the workout process, client engagement, negotiation strategies, and understanding of proper reporting to management according to bank policies and OCC requirements
Ensure high-quality credit decisions through the completion of consistent, high-quality risk and analysis packages that adhere to regulations, policies, and procedures
Prepare valuations for reserving and charge-off analysis on problem loans and support the firm's work in forecasting for non-performing loans, charge-offs, and recoveries
Collaborate, build, and maintain strong partnerships across the organization
Demonstrate strong leadership skills by mentoring, coaching, providing ongoing training support, and supporting the development of the Special Credits team
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines and oversee Credit Officer resources, ensure timely submission of credit packages
Support the Head of Special Credits with additional responsibilities as assigned including, but not limited to, leading and contributing to special projects related to credit topics and issues
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
10+ years' commercial banking / lending experience including extensive credit experience
Commercial banking / automotive captive experience, with thorough knowledge of accounting and financial statement analysis
Superior analytical skills supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
Thorough knowledge of the Bank's policies and procedures, as well as its products and their inherent risks
Recognized leadership capabilities and executive presence
Demonstrated judgment and ability to act decisively
Experienced in indirect supervision of professional level employees
