Citizens Principal Data Scientist in Columbus, Ohio
Description
Citizens’ Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) organization is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to help build, maintain, and improve quantitative models and systems that continuously improve efforts to cultivate strong customer relationships.
In this role, you will:
Serve as a senior modeler for AI/ML solutions, delivering statistical and machine learning models and analytic solutions, from design to development, deployment, integration into larger business processes, and rigorous evaluation and optimization of model performance over time
Synthesize analytic findings into a clear and approachable story and set of recommended actions, reducing complexity as appropriate for different audiences
Develop critical relationships with other data scientists as well as partners in product, pricing & profitability, finance, data, and technology, to collaboratively bring transformational ML capabilities to market
Invest in building a solid applied knowledge of customer and business data and underlying business processes, in order to design & develop AI/ML solutions that solve real business challenges
Maintain a mindset aligned to Citizens’ commitment to an Agile operating model and to managing ML models as a product
A successful incumbent will have:
Master’s degree (PhD referred) in statistics, economics, or related quantitative field
10+ years of experience delivering ML models through the full model development lifecycle, from design and development to deployment, monitoring, and governance
Proven experience turning ambiguous business problems and raw data into ML-driven solutions by applying critical thinking and advanced technical & statistical programming techniques
A deep understanding of the theory and application of a variety of statistical and machine learning methods and algorithms, including causal inference methods
Proficient in Python and SQL, with 5+ years of applied experience in each language
Experience with cloud computing platforms (preferably AWS) and ML-related services such as Amazon Sagemaker
A strong sense of intellectual curiosity and ability to thrive and deliver value in an entrepreneurial working environment
Ability to work in a high-performance professional environment, with quick turn-around and evolving priorities, including flexibility to take on new roles and responsibilities as needed
Commitment to intellectual rigor and observance of compliance and data privacy controls
A disciplined approach to making decisions and setting expectations
Experience working with large datasets (greater than 1 million records) and applying techniques to efficiently manage big data
Experience working with financial or demographic datasets (preferred)
