Description

FUNCTION: The Operations Systems Specialist is responsible for testing new and existing utility operation systems to identify defects and inefficiencies in the applications. This position also interprets and communicates problems with the system to management and documents Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Formulates and implements testing strategies used to test new and existing utility applications to identify defects and recommend production enhancements.

  • Prepares system documentation, including procedures for the Operations department.

  • Works closely with Operations Business Analyst, Operations management and IT during the application design stages through implementation and tests any future modifications.

  • Acts as a liaison between the Operations Business Analyst and other Operations Staff.

  • Assists Quality Control by maintaining, optimizing and troubleshooting the quality control databases and SharePoint Web Source application. Recommends database enhancements and maintains documentation.

  • Assists in Workflow routes and documentation.

  • Other projects assigned by management.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.

  • Basic technical writing and process management skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing, to all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently, possess time management skills and is accountable to deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with Excel, Word, Outlook and Access preferred.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 1-3 years working in a data processing/systems environment with similar characteristics as Cass.

  • Experience working with a utility invoice processing systems or similar system, preferred.
