WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
Shift role is based on-site at our Columbus, Ohio location . In Research & Development (R&D) our ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life. This position provides routine and non-routine equipment maintenance/calibration for liquid and powder production in the Research & Development facility.
Proficient in performing repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems. Ensure proper electrical / mechanical operation.
Support operations in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and repairs.
Lead equipment changeovers between different container formats on the seamers. Support container format changes on aseptic filling.
Support calibration, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining of instrumentation.
Repair/replace various components including seals, bearings, o-rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers and gears
Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. Capable of wiring and replacing electric motors.
Read electrical and process schematics to troubleshoot equipment
Comfortable working around voltages up to 480VAC
Follow calibration procedures to support calibrations in the plant calibration program. Accurately complete calibration records in compliance with all corporate and site requirements.
Follow all plant and department procedures, GMP’s and plant safety rules. Keep all work areas clean and neat. Housekeeping of the shop is primarily the responsibility of everyone working in the area. Properly use the plant work order system and follow all stockroom procedures.
Record and communicate shift activity in an organized manner to supervision and team members
The schedule for this 1st Shift position is 7AM-3:30PM EST, Monday - Friday, plus occasional Saturdays and/or Sundays, as needed. If overtime is required, the employee is typically asked to come in early (also occasional).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
High School Diploma / GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 5 years Experience. Increasing job knowledge and responsibility in field of mechanics. This experience must indicate proficiency in all aspects of mechanical construction and maintenance work including the demonstrated ability to work well with others in a commercial and/or industrial work environment.
5 Years Controls/Electrician Experience with Rockwell, PLC, troubleshooting.
Will have advanced understanding of all aspects of electrical and mechanical theory and application to mechanical systems in a commercial and/or industrial environment.
The incumbent must be expert in the use of all mechanics hand tools and wrenches, measuring devices, power tools including drills, hammer drills, saws-ails, etc.
Must be proficient in the operation of shop equipment including drill presses, grinders, and lathes to perform all aspects of equipment installation and maintenance.
Will be able to perform advanced troubleshooting electrical and mechanical repairs and to install mechanical equipment and accessories according to Abbott engineering Standards.

The individual must be able to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions in regard to safety and company standards and policies.

The base pay for this position is $20.60 – $41.20 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
