Job Summary

Responsible for the leadership and direction of all staff delivering fleet services to AEP system-wide, hires and trains 260 highly skilled employees that are responsible for procuring and maintaining the 14,000 fleet units operated by AEP, responsible for all safety programs associated with the maintenance of AEP's fleet assets within the 90 AEP owned service garages, ensures all vehicles are maintained and operated in accordance to Federal DOT regulations, state laws and AEP safety requirements, works closely with Business Unit leadership to establish standards and acquire the most cost effective equipment to serve the needs of our employees so they can perform their daily assignments, oversees an annual fleet budget that is over $240 million and ensure that all expenses are properly accounted for, oversees Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for the Fleet Operations organization and coordinates SOX compliance with related Business Units activities, accountable for the planning, preparation and execution of the annual Fleet Acquisition Blanket that normally exceeds $100M.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promotes a culture within Fleet Operations that is consistent with AEP values and lead the department's safety program with the vision of Zero Harm.

  • Monitors and influences the financial performance of Fleet Operations to provide internal customers with the most cost-effective fleet assets and ensure processes are adhered to certify accurate billings to the business units each month.

  • Oversees the development of highly skilled, effective and enabled fleet service technicians to provide superior service to their internal business partners.

  • Directs and lead the activities associated with the acquisition, operation, maintenance and salvage of corporate fleet assets.

  • Directs and leads the strategic business planning for Fleet Operations, establish and achieve critical departmental operating performance goals which support the corporate and business units' vision.

  • Strategically align the Fleet organization with the various business units and communicate issues, expectations, processes and potential solutions to appropriate levels of Management.

  • Proactively represent the corporation in legislative, regulatory and safety matters affecting fleet operations and policies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, job-relevant field of study or equivalent related operational and leadership experience.

Experience:

  • 10 years of managerial experience in electric utility business, with a strong operational background; demonstrated proficiency in managing personnel, budgeting, analysis and communication required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have strong analytical, teamwork, and communication skills with the ability to communicate strategically to all levels of employees and suppliers.

  • Must have the ability to effectively work with all levels of internal management and external vendors / suppliers and must be able to prioritize and coordinate activities to successfully perform in this position.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

$183,033.00-237,941.50 USD
