JPMorgan Chase Lead Software Engineer - AWS, React, Java in Columbus, Ohio

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking & Operations Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Be the lead engineer on building out a new application from the ground up with the latest technology stack at the firm.

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.

  • Drives innovation and engineering excellence when solving engineering problems.

  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.

  • Holds themselves to high engineering standards and feels ownership in their work.

  • Ensure quality and completeness of the product through unit, component testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing capabilities.

  • Coaches, trains and inspires junior and intermediate software engineers in modern software best practices and both public cloud adoption.

  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

  • 5+ years' experience with Java/Springboot backend development, design and architecture.

  • 5+ years' experience with event-driven architecture, microservice-based system design.

  • 5 + years' experience with React or related frameworks.

  • 10+ years' experience with delivering technology solutions.

  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.

  • Experience leading development, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages.

  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.

  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).

  • Ability to coach and mentor junior engineers.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 3+ years' experience with AWS Public Cloud development, design and architecture, including migration of applications to a public cloud environment.

  • Write effective API's.

  • Strong knowledge and experience on Testing Automation, such as BDD, Cucumber, etc.

  • Strong knowledge and experience on build pipeline, such as Jenkins, etc.

  • AWS Developer or Solutions Architect certified.
