Canon USA & Affiliates Human Resources Business Partner in COLUMBUS, Ohio
Overview
Supports assigned business unit or region by promoting, communicating and implementing human resources strategies and initiatives. Builds and maintains influential relationships as a strategic partner with management and an employee advocate. Provides guidance on employment law, coordinates performance management, and resolves employee relations issues. Acts as subject matter experts on human resources policies and procedures such as payroll, benefits, compensation, employee development, and recruiting.
This is a remote role but must be based in the Columbus, OH area. You will be required to visit client sites (Locally, OH, IN, MN, WI).
Responsibilities
Serves as a consultant in all aspects relating to sales, operations & regional management
Consults with perspective clients and sales to evaluate transition and financial issues for new accounts—serves as a SME with direct client interface to facilitate the sales process; participates as key contributor to announcements to staff of client employees, and as a conduit for information for transitioning client staff to CBPS
Serves as a Business Partner supporting company initiatives including client interaction, management development & implementations
Develops and implements strategic regional recruitment and employment programs.
Conducts investigations of ER issues; provide direction on resolution at a strategic level to promote consistent business practices; while simultaneously mitigating risk to clients and CBPS
Develops metrics to gauge employee satisfaction and present aggregate results along with action plans to improve satisfaction and productivity to strengthen client satisfaction and increase productivity
Designs & implements regional recruitment programs & incentives which efficiently reduce the turnaround time to fill positions
Consults with regional & site operations to develop succession planning strategies & develop IDP programs for Site employees
Serves as regional resource for HR policies, records and benefit issues, and as regional liaison for Corporate HR
Develops & executes site specific safety plans. Conducts accident investigations & recommends remedial measures
Coordinates the process of onboarding new hires and insures consistent orientation
Coordinates and conducts training and development programs for the region as required by local operational needs and corporate priorities and requirements
Assists managers with employee counseling, proper documentation of performance issues and terminations, as required
Stays current with federal and state employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance with current pertinent HR policies, procedures and practices for the responsible region
Provides information on medical & dental insurance, issues, short-term & long-term disability, worker’s compensation/safety issues & leaves of absence
Participates in HR projects such as Newsletter, weekly operations communications, etc
Performs other duties as requested by upper management or client representatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience
Master’s degree preferred
5+ years HR experience in a professional business setting with an additional 3+ years HR Generalist experience required
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of HRIS systems
Ability to communicate with clients, employees and all levels of management
Ability to handle difficult clients, employees and situations
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Ability to manage under tight deadlines
Ability to understand visual processes, interpret data and translate into written word
Advanced customer service skills
Advanced organizational, administrative, record keeping and time management skills
Wide degree of creativity and latitude
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong team approach to business
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- 20% Travel required (includes local travel)
