About the organization: our Global Command Center is the tip of the spear responsible for ensuring the most important parts of the Ford Digital Experience are online, available, and performant. They possess the skills and knowledge to react and more importantly to prevent disruption.

About the role: as the Engineering Leader your focus will help us achieve excellence, efficiency, and optimization at every point in the operations system. You are a practitioner of improvement and use that knowledge to build lightweight, functional, data-driven processes that form the foundation on which advanced technologies can be used to get in front of incidents before they occur.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor multiple teams of operations engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and professional development

  • Drive the transition from traditional operations to proactive insights leveraging modern observability practices while incorporating modern trends and technologies to go faster

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define observability and operational requirements and implement effective solutions

  • Manage data-related processes, including collection, storage, processing, and analysis of quality and performance trends

  • Oversee the development of visualizations and performance insights to provide actionable plans to stakeholders

  • Stay up to date with industry trends in observability, data management, and operations engineering, applying relevant best practices to team projects

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ of reliability and operations experience providing customer-focused operations services to identify, triage, recover and prevent costly service disruption

  • 5+ years’ experience managing software support, reliability, or operations engineering teams on large-scale projects that included technical deep-dives and production troubleshooting

  • 2+ years’ experience providing support to different software stacks that are actively shifting from reactive to proactive patterns 

  • Proven experience building teams from scratch and leading operational transformations with a measured focus on quality, performance and data-driven insights

  • Proven experience using data, planning and vision to modernize operations programs

  • Experience building, conducting and leveraging test programs to improve quality of service over a large distribution of independent services

  • Experience leading diverse & distributed teams enabling all members to bring their best

  • Collaborative mindset focused on business impact with a proven track record of coaching and inspiring others to achieve desired results

  • Comfortable managing distributed teams and working with partners who are globally distributed and rarely localized in one location

  • Experience forming strong partnerships and continuous collaboration with engineering teams in product and infrastructure

  • Able to lead a discussion with senior management and tailor the level of technical detail to suit an audience
