BWAY CORPORATION Electrical Maintenance Technician in Columbus, Ohio
JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities: * Follow, without exception, all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment. * Must have a working knowledge of electrical systems and how they operate. * Must be able to operate electrical/electronic test equipment. * Must be able to inspect, dis/reassemble, troubleshoot and repair/replace for electrical and mechanical components. * Must have the ability to complete electrical projects, modifications, and repairs to code. * Must be able to install/maintain/troubleshoot motor control systems. * Implement given maintenance decisions based on production priorities and available resources. * Work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manuals, verbal instruction, schematics, operating or repair manuals, blueprints, or layout plans. * Develop maintenance materials on specific areas of expertise. * Work closely with other maintenance team members to assist in electrical maintenance. * Actively communicate in a team atmosphere. * Maintain working knowledge of spare parts to include recommending maximum and minimum levels. * May assist Engineering with various projects. Key Attributes: * Ability to work in a safe manner. * Advanced electrical skills required. * Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot systems without relying on manuals. * Strong schematic reading proficiency. * Experience in a production / manufacturing environment. * Experience with hydraulics/pumps and pneumatics. * Must be able to read, write and speak English. * Willingness to work overtime, off-shift. * Must be able to work on-call as needed. * PLC knowledge is a plus. Requirements: * Related technical school or equivalent experience (electrical and mechanical). * 4-6 years of direct hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of production equipment. * Trade knowledge in a specialized field or process equivalent to 1-3 years of trade training. * Basic understanding of systems, equipment and schematics. * Ability to interpret and use of fairly complicated drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, variety of precision measuring instruments. * Ability to use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Solid troubleshooting skills. * Basic mathematical skills used to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use decimals and fractions. * Ability to perform work in a mature and professional manner, demonstrate personal responsibility, and perform all assigned duties.
