Commercial Reporting Analyst Sr

Location: 1 Riverside Plaza, Columbus, OH 43215

Job Duties:

Perform special studies to provide financial and data analysis supporting Commercial Operations, Generation, and Accounting/Finance. Report and provide analysis on various weekly, monthly, and quarterly results involving fossil generation, renewable energy operations and RTO settlements, including market congestion and curtailment events. Perform budget to actual comparisons of various financial and commercial services operational results, including RTO market settlements, LMPs and renewable energy management, and provide analysis of the results. Develop and analyze data sets to support reported or new SEC and/or regulatory filings. Participate in problem solving in a collaborative environment to address all opportunities and risks with innovative, creative, optimized, safety minded solutions. Maintain knowledge and understanding of accounting and operational changes impacting reporting requirements. Respond to ad-hoc requests to support Commercial Operations, Regulatory, audits, and renewable studies with minimal supervision. Facilitate meetings and manage small initiatives to completion with minimal supervision. Support the Risk Management processes and reporting including hedging valuation analysis, maintaining SOX controls and evidence archiving. Additional responsibilities include deep-dive studies of financial or operation results and FERQ EQR reporting. Develop and implement process improvements with reporting and database queries. Hybrid work from home policy may apply.

Salary range: $83,413 to $104,267.50

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field and 4 years of experience in the energy industry as follows:

  • Developing analytical models to predict operational behavior from historical energy usage and conducting statistical analysis.

  • Managing report storage, retrieval, and aggregation of financial and operational data primarily through databases, Excel, and industry applications using VBA, SQL, and Python/R.

  • Building analytical models using Excel and VBA.

  • Analyzing RTO market curtailments and renewable energy management results.

  • Building and enhancing automations using tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, SQL, VBA or other industry applications.

  • Reviewing and analyzing renewable utility / industry engineering designs and one-line drawings.

  • Renewable energy project assessments, performance testing and post-commissioning activities.

  • Reviewing and analyzing utility and generation rates, LMPs and arbitrage scenarios.

  • Developing tools to optimize power demands.

Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience as specified above are acceptable.
