Motrex LLC Tool Technician in Columbus, Indiana

Overview

Stryten Energy, manufactures proprietary and custom injection molding products serving the industrial lead battery, automotive and consumer markets. Stryten Energy is expanding battery poly manufacturing and recycling output to help solve industry-wide supply constraints.

Performs various duties related to maintenance and upkeep of tooling and related equipment. This will include the repair of industrial tooling and dies for plastic injection molding machines, analyzing operational problems, testing equipment, correcting issues, developing and maintaining plans, and providing input and suggestions regarding maintenance issues.

This is a 1st shift (7am - 3pm) opening

Pay rate: $29.71/hour

Responsibilities

  • Perform various duties relating to maintenance and upkeep of tooling, dies, and related plastic injection molding equipment

  • Schedule repairs to meet project schedule and requirements

  • Assist in developing and maintaining plans for preventative maintenance for machinery and equipment

  • Operate necessary equipment including lathes, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other associated equipment

  • Troubleshoot tooling issues in the production area and in the tool room, recommend and implement solutions to fix problems

  • Test equipment and machinery for operation after repairs are made

  • Assist in the training and development of new employees including operators, tool room technicians, and new employees

  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet specified deadlines

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment

  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in a mold repair setting

  • Print reading, schematics and diagrams associated with tool and die repair,

  • Working knowledge of various testing and quality instruments including gauges, calipers, go/no gauges, etc...

  • Working knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting, fabrication, and machining applications.

  • Thorough working knowledge of Preventative Maintenance programs

  • Work well in a team environment, have good written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, some physical demands are required. The individual in this position will be frequently engaged in activities that require body mobility in order to engage in: lifting and carrying items in excess of 50 lbs., moving about in the workplace utilizing ladders, catwalks, and scaffolding. The individual in this position will need to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, and stoop regularly. Maintaining regular attendance, following instructions, understanding workplace materials, and communicating with others are essential to being successful in this role.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or Trade School coursework

  • Completion of accredited trade school or journeyman’s program preferred
