We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer II to play a key role in connecting two leading RTX businesses at the Pratt & Whitney Columbus Engine Center. This role offers the opportunity to directly influence both Commercial and Military Engine programs while being at the heart of cutting-edge aerospace technology. As a key technical liaison, you will work closely with the Disassembly, Assembly, and Test (DAT) floor teams to address daily challenges and technical concerns across all Collins Engine Control Systems (ECS) product lines.

In this dynamic, customer-facing position, you will manage engineering recommendations related to In-Process Findings (IPFs) or other similar technical concerns during engine overhaul activities and drive fast-paced resolutions to critical Collins component issues. What You Will Do

  • Perform lead on-site engineering duties for Collins Aerospace hardware investigations or inquiries at the Columbus Engine Center (CEC).

  • Provide substantiated technical evaluations and disposition s for defective components, drawing from both Collins and Pratt & Whitney blueprint requirements and production and field limits.

  • Direct support activities for Power & Controls - Engine Control Systems (ECS) components as they process through the CEC Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) shop.

  • Initiate quality/engineering improvement activities throughout all MRO phases with GTF engines (PW1100, PW1500, PW1900) and F117 programs.

  • Use RTX CORE Methods and Tools to drive comprehensive investigations into product non-quality events and support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) as needed.

  • Facilitate the monthly creation and reporting of component removal trends and quality issues to provide to the IPT Team across multiple functions.

  • Offer technical recommendations to the worldwide MRO Network across multiple functions & disciplines.

  • Develop and maintain new relationships with engine centers across the GTF MRO Network.

  • Support the F135 program at the West Palm Beach and Middletown Engine Centers as critical issues arise.

  • Create standard work for the onsite engineering representative roles at customer locations.

  • Represent Collins Aerospace - East (Hamilton Sundstrand) at GTF Network customer conferences and present on investigations and component improvement projects as necessary.

  • Research Supplier Specs and processes to approve or substantiate rework or repair of hardware.

  • Tactfully representative the Collins Engineering Partnership Office (EPO) and provide routine status updates to Winsor Locks, CT Program Office and Chief Engineers Office as applicable.

    Qualifications You Must Have

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

    • U.S. citizenship is required , as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

    Qualifications We Prefer

  • Working knowledge in SAP P10 .

  • Comprehensive knowledge of component and engine level MRO activities is a plus

  • Proven ability to meet customer expectations for responsiveness.

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry with Collins Aerospace or Pratt & Whitney.

  • Experience applying Project and/or Program management skills.

  • Experience using strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience managing competing priorities and delivering successful outcomes in critical situations.

  • Experience using organizational skills to track multiple customers and their diverse needs.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
