Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director, Operations Strategy & Planning to support our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and elevate our engineering operations to the next level. The Senior Director, Operations Strategy & Planning will report to the CTO and will be pivotal in driving our Engineering team's strategic direction and operational excellence. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong engineering and product operations background, program and project management, and executive communication. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing cross-functional initiatives, streamlining processes, and ensuring alignment across the organization.

Your Impact:

  • Operational Cadence Management: Lead and manage the operational cadence for engineering, including regular executive staff meetings, OKRs, annual planning, and other key processes.

  • Project and Program Oversight: Oversee initiatives and projects from ideation through execution that cut across the engineering organization, driving improvements in internal operations and team performance. Additionally, manage key programs that align with the strategic goals of the engineering function.

  • Efficiency and Productivity: Partner with the CTO to drive the efficiency and productivity of the engineering function by streamlining initiatives, managing programs, and defining and communicating the engineering organization's strategy.

  • Internal Communications: Partner with the communications team on internal communications for the CTO, preparing for internal and external meetings, conferences, and events in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Strategic Alignment: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity on the engineering organization's strategic vision and collaborate to achieve overall company goals.

  • Progress Monitoring: Work with leadership to deliver, monitor, and communicate progress toward OKR goals, ensuring accountability and transparency.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in fast-paced technology companies, with a background in engineering or product operations, program, and project management.

  • Executive Communication: Proven experience in leading or conducting communications on behalf of an executive leader, with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity through curiosity and research.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of modern software development workflows, tooling, ecosystems, and organizational design techniques and patterns.

  • Leadership and Influence: Proven ability to work with C-level stakeholders and lead through influence, maintaining operational excellence and improving team performance.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing settings while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.

Bonus Points:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration).

  • Experience in a similar role within a high-growth technology company.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement processes.
