Job Summary

Job Overview:

The Shift Superintendent will oversee a team of carpenters, painters, maintenance technicians, and laborers across multiple hospital locations. The superintendent will report directly to the Director of Construction and Facilities Services. This role requires strong leadership, ensuring that all repair, maintenance, and construction activities are performed efficiently while adhering to hospital standards and safety protocols. The Superintendent is also responsible for coordinating the purchase and timely delivery of materials from suppliers and warehouses to various hospital sites, ensuring smooth operations and minimizing delays. The use of technology to manage work orders and oversee team performance is essential to this role. This is a second shift position. 3pm to 11:30pm M-F.

Team Leadership and Oversight:

Lead and supervise a team of carpenters, painters, maintenance technicians, and laborers across multiple hospital locations.

Assign work orders, monitor task progress, and ensure that all team members are working efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Ensure that all work performed by the team complies with hospital regulations, including infection control, safety, and quality standards.

Provide ongoing training, guidance, and mentorship to team members, promoting skills development and high performance.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any issues related to team member productivity, attendance, or conduct.

Completing daily updates for management on all activities of each shift.

Multi-Site Operations:

Oversee maintenance, repair, and minor construction activities across multiple hospital locations, ensuring consistency in service quality.

Communicate regularly with facilities managers and department heads at each hospital location to assess needs and coordinate team resources.

Travel between hospital sites as needed to provide direct supervision, address urgent issues, and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications or training in facilities management, construction management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
