AT&T Manager-Business Field Services in Columbia, Maryland

Job Description:

This role is primary for the state of Maryland, assistance will be required throughout the year and can be for Delaware, DC, VA, WV or PA as back up support is needed. The Manager will be responsible for Network Continuity for all AT&T customers in the state as well as the fibers both Aerial and buried cable throughout the state of MD. Must manage a group of technicians including site visits and observations that are due quarterly.

You group will work with CNIO to Identify the type of outage and root cause analysis dispatching 24 x 7 x 365 to support AT&T Network. Continue to engage and work with various groups within AT&T and external customers throughout the duration of all service interruptions until service is restored. Dispatch vendors and work with cable contractors and 3rd party owners of conduit.

This will entail working with our Network Operations Centers for the duration of the fiber outages and dispatching cable vendors, identifying the RCA, providing updates and feedback to various entities as well as managing your direct report technicians who assist in the restoration. Engagement will be required with Sales, GTOC (reporting group), FCC reporting groups, mobility NOC and other AT&T groups (depending on the severity of the cable cuts).

Work with power group to engage assistance with storms and stationary deployments. Engagement with PUC groups may be required, also training and meeting participation.

Must be available holidays, nights and weekends for call outs.

Supervises and manages crews of technicians who engage high profile revenue generating business customers on installation and maintenance, provisioning, dispatch, and testing activities at the customer site or a company location for Special Services, Designed Services, Data Services, Managed Services (ACE, ADE, AVPN, just to name a few) CPE, WiFi, Video, and 911 and the cable maintenance required to support such services.

Must be trained in OSP (Outside plant protection).

Key Roles and Responsibilities.

  • Supervision and management of crew responsible for installation, provision, repair, and maintenance of cabinets and other SONET / network element hardware, including bulk power plants and battery maintenance.

  • Managing the type 2, 3, and 4 nodes and all local service equipment supporting customers.

  • Act as single point of contact for virtually all customer escalations.

  • Supervisory and management duties include: leading regular huddles to discuss and direct assignments; overseeing the flow and distribution of inventory and supplies; working with dispatch in apportioning work orders amongst crew; ensuring allocation of work; maintaining technician work schedules; attendance management; maintaining and reviewing records used to supervise technicians, such as work order close out narratives, key metric reports, and time entries; identifying potential issues and missed customer-services opportunities from prior days' work; providing feedback, training, and coaching to technicians; ensuring crews exhibit care and proper handling of hardware; evaluating and appraising technician performance; recommending promotions for high-performing technicians and discipline for technicians who fail to meet expectations; interviewing, and gauging the skill level of, potential hires and transfers; handling technician grievances consistent with the collective bargaining agreement at the step one level; identifying and removing roadblocks to safe and efficient performance by technicians; and conducting in-field safety and quality inspections to ensure technicians are performing work properly and safely.

  • May include supervision and managing crews of technicians who preform Central Office equipment test and turn-up, provisioning, maintenance and repair, including generators, power plants and battery maintenance along with outside plant fiber work; mark, locate and protect.

  • Act as single point of contact for virtually all customer escalations.

  • Resolve customer complaints on behalf of company.

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent related network experience; Technical degree preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of network related technical experience.

  • Extensive technical expertise with DS0, DS1, ABF, Ethernet, BVOIP, Routers, Switches, PSAPs, WiFi, Fiber & Copper Transmission, CPE and SONET.

  • AC / DC Power Troubleshooting Experience

  • Metro / CORE Cable Management to include Fiber Restorations, Rearrangements, and Locating

  • Legacy LNS Equipment Troubleshooting and Diagnostics to include SONET Transport Systems

  • CPE Installation, Maintenance, Configuration to include Legacy ACE / ADE Transport Equipment

  • WIFI CPE Equipment Installation, Configuration and Repair

  • Previously managed bargained for employes (have an understanding of the union contract and familiar with the grievance processes).

Environmental Requirements:

  • This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function.

  • This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Our Manager-Business Field Services, earn between $96,000 - $144,000. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
