Basis Partners' Transportation Design Engineers play an important role in our community's quality of life and safety by being a part of a design team responsible for applying broad knowledge of principles, practices, and applied technical expertise for engineering project development, design, and modeling of transportation-related project deliverables. The Design Engineer serves a pivotal role in ensuring quality design and project deliverables that align with an exceptional client experience and the firm's high standards of quality and innovation that differentiates Basis Partners from all other firms. You are a great fit for the position if you: Have at least 8+ years relevant experience. Have broad knowledge and design expertise across numerous elements of design projects of moderate to some advanced scope and scale. Are very strong at task management while also supporting team members, keeping them on task/schedule. Has served as lead designer for large projects and aspirations or experience as a project manager under the guidance of senior staff. Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer. Possess a firm understanding of extended project team roles, responsibilities, constraints, budgets, and goals, including agencies, utilities, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and public stake To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES) Assisting with the initiation of projects. Producing designs for a multitude of transportation projects. Preparing and overseeing a complete set of construction documents as a discipline lead and overall project design lead. Implementing and overseeing quality control processes. Creating, writing, assembling, and updating project specifications. Coordinating with discipline leads (internal and external) for the day-to-day technical delivery and progress of individual disciplines, including subconsultants. Ensuring tasks and subtasks are completed on time and consistent with the project schedule and budget. Consulting on issues related to project deliverables. Promoting Basis Partners values and reputation. Actively supporting the safety culture and ensuring integration of quality in relevant processes. Maintaining a productive and team focused work environment by performing other duties as assigned. Supporting and adhere to Basis Partners' business and team practices and policies included but not limited to those found in the Basis Employee Handbook Maintaining professional and technical knowledge. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Basis Partners mission, values and how we serve our clients and fellow team members. National, state, and local design standards and regulations. Relevant civil construction and design codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Methods, practices, and procedures involved in transportation planning and engineering. Working knowledge of the entire project life cycle. Client specific needs and deliverables. Application of standard specifications, special provisions, measurement, and payment terms. Skills and abilities related to: Project management experience Technical leadership Team leadership Applied technology Relationship building Communication Judgement and problem solving Learning agility EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: 4-year Civil Engineering Degree Preferred: P.E. licensure CAREER PROGRESSION: Career progression is a function of each individual's degree of competency in key design knowledge and skills, individual performance in achieving goals, level of educational and certification achievement, and organizational need. This position will evolve into more responsibility for engineering and design tasks of increased complexi y and impact. TRAVEL: Occasional travel to job sites, client offices, and other meeting places. Required to have and maintain a valid driver's license, appropriate auto insurance coverage (per Basis Vehicle Policy) and an acceptable driving record. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most of the work will be performed in an office environment. Project site visits may be necessary at times and can involve hazards including exposure to changes in temperature (seasonal), inclement weather, dust, fumes, gases, traffic, slope, water, water way, and trains. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Office Physical Requirements: Continuously sitting; Occasionally standing and walking. Lifting, carrying, moving: Occasionally up to 2 lbs. Hand use: Frequent simple grasping and fine manipulation. Reaching: Occasionally reaching above shoulder, at and below waist; Continuously keyboarding.
