Job Summary
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications
The Sheriff’s Office provides public safety at all times and therefore every position is deemed essential. All positions are in-person and not eligible for remote work. Every position is also subject to recall based on the needs of the Office to keep the community safe.
This position has an anticipated work schedule ofregularly working up to 25 hours per week, subject to change.
Under FLSA guidelines, this position isnon-exempt.

Registers, tracks, and locates convicted sex offenders in El Paso County as provided by law. Organizes and maintains databases; provides administrative support to the Sex Offender Registration Unit of the Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Organizes, updates, and maintains the EPSO Sex Offender Registry in various databases.
Interviews convicted registered juvenile and adult sex offenders (misdemeanor, felony).
Collects and records offender registration fees.
Digitally fingerprints and photographs registered sex offenders and other defendants.
Prepares address verification field packets for Patrol Deputy home visits and similar packets for Detentions Deputies in registering jail inmates.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
Knowledge of office policies and procedures and state statutes.
Ability to effectively operate office equipment including computers, printers, transcription/dictation equipment, digital cameras, calculators, digital fingerprint machine, and copy machines.
Ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm).
Must possess strong data entry skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Possess excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently without supervision.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and interact professionally with the general public.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Minimum two years administrative office experience, including clerical and typing duties.
Any equivalent combination of related education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
Licenses/Certificates
- Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Compliance within six months of employment.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, truth verification examination, drug screen, and typing test for speed and accuracy
Work Conditions
Duties are performed primarily in an office environment. Works daily with convicted sex offenders. This is a part-time position regularly working up to 25 hours per week.
