Key Responsibilities:

Experience in operational space mission planning and execution, data analytics, and space system acquisition. The primary role is to collect, analyze, translate and communicate user needs to the acquisition team, working at the Special Access Program level. The successful applicants will have experience working with prototype and/or operational sensors and systems on an operations floor, with strong understanding of tactical and operational command and control (C2) in support of protect and defend missions.

  • Utilize program management and systems engineering skills and processes to elicit and understand user needs across the space enterprise

  • Provide domain expertise and systems engineering experience in support of mission planning, requirements definition, and modeling and simulation required for the development and modification of tactics, techniques and procedures (TT&P).

  • Support engineering and mission operations analysis in support of USSF Space Systems Command (SSC) operations and acquisition objectives

  • Translate and communicate user needs to the SSC acquisition teams

  • Provide expert advice to the program manager on technical analysis and design considerations for mission architectures as they pertain and impact operational execution

  • Identifying and adopting innovative approaches of AI/ML algorithms

  • Conduct trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies aimed at optimizing system architectures, user interface/ user experience (UI/UX), and validation and verification of collected data

Work Environment:

  • Location: Colorado Springs, with significant presence at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB)

  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required.

  • Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology or related engineering discipline with over 10 years of combined experience supporting both operational and acquisition programs

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility

  • Experience in mission planning at strategic, operational, and tactical levels, ideally in support of a protect and defend mission set

  • Experience working with both traditional DoD acquisition programs and agile program management frameworks

  • Familiar with data analytics fundamentals, tools and processes

  • Ability to quickly learn operational procedures, new software, and technical subjects

  • Ability to work with, understand and quickly assimilate complex data sets

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in related engineering discipline with over 10 years of related experience between an operational floor and DoD agile acquisition programs

  • Strong understanding of space physics and orbital mechanics

Basic Compensation:

$185- 235K

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
