Your Opportunity

Join a multi-discipline Transportation team with a culture focused on supporting individuals while delivering innovative and impactful transportation designs to the communities we call home and the places we like to play.

In this role, you will collaborate with the Transportation Practice Leadership and support the growth of the team and Transportation business line within Stantec in the Colorado and Mountain Region. The role will support both business development and public involvement delivering results for clients and communities. You will work closely with our technical project managers to create compelling messages and content that set our firm apart from the competition in the preparation of client-focused proposals, expressions of interest, and statements of qualifications.

The projects and clients are diverse in nature providing opportunity to be a part of a growing team and find your passion while developing the technical expertise to support a strong career. You will focus on Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado local agencies while also working on projects in Arizona and New Mexico. The project portfolio may range from gravel pathways and trails in national parks to urban corridors and major projects such as large transit and alternative delivery projects.

We are looking for a team player who can set the strategy, gather market intelligence, identify key pursuits, and facilitate business developers along the pursuit processes. This role requires that you can communicate effectively with a variety of people, are organized and have self-initiative, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, monitor sales and return on investment of business development efforts/costs and learn our technical methodology to help the team maneuver the competitive environment with confidence.

This role will use advanced presentation, writing and editing skills to assist various proposal managers in the preparation of client account management plans, and oversee client-focused proposals, expressions of interest, and statements of qualifications. You will be responsible for enhancing the company brand in the BC marketplace and will be an integral part of why our team will be winning great work.

This position will also develop and execute public involvement material and strategies for project execution as a standalone or complimentary service for clients to engage and deliver creative project solutions to today’s civic challenges.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, prepare, and execute the strategic go-to-market plan for the Business Center in collaboration with the Business Center Practice Leader, account managers, and business developers within the company

  • Support Practice Leaders in development of key client and discipline strategy plans for market share growth

  • Perform, summarize and communicate key client (DOT and major municipalities) research including routine review of key client long range plans including STIP, CIP, 10-year, or other project identification lists, and competition market share

  • Review DOT Transportation or board commission agendas, meeting minutes, and directives. Summarize and communicate their relation to business line initiatives and strategy.

  • Lead and develop service profile promotional material for industry events and client outreach for local and regional external educational campaigns. Maintain annual revisions

  • Create, update and maintain Business Center resume including past project write ups and staff resumes.

  • Support industry event identification, registration, and preparation of strategy.

  • Industry events debrief summarization and dissemination of information, update of business plan, pursuits, or strategy of key initiatives and opportunities identified.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Marketing team and assist in providing general marketing collateral and communications development (i.e. blogs/ awards).

  • Update, maintain and support Stantec’s information management and business development forecasting tools related to opportunity/lead tracking, business development data analysis, people and project profiles, and promotional activities including conferences and awards.

  • Assist with Business Development analytics and opportunity tracking for new and existing clients, including top clients

  • Provide regular updates across transportation disciplines to assist business leads in tracking pursuits, reviewing our sales process, and supporting our achievement of excellent results.

  • Management of routine business development meetings with discipline leadership for each state and facilitate monthly development monitoring and status reporting.

  • Support in managing and monitoring return on investment of development costs

  • Support readiness reviews for pursuit and proposal development. Development of strategies to increase success probability.

  • Lead and prepare key proposals, presentations, and other communications in alignment with the Stantec brand.

  • Support proposal content development via storyboarding, outlines, and messaging.

  • Outreach and coordination with subconsultant team members for proposal and approach development and notification of end results.

  • Review requests for proposals (RFPs) to ensure compliance with submission requirements and determine optimal presentation of content.

  • Develop client relationships, both industry and client, for identification of public involvement opportunities.

  • Develop business plan and strategy for growth of public involvement service area within Stantec’s Transportation business line.

  • Develop project approach, scope, and fee estimates as necessary during project pursuit and negotiation phase.

  • Execute public involvement scope of work including preparing materials, holding public meetings, and develop public outreach methodologies using various technologies in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of the transportation discipline, industry, trends, clients and competitors

  • Industry market intelligence, network connections and ability to compile market outlook research and develop forecasts

  • Proven experience developing strategic responses to industry trends and request for proposals.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.

  • Public engagement experience as a project service for public agencies.

  • Proven record of business development practices improving win rate and increased sales

  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Web-based interfaces, Office 365 Suite including app plug-ins

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both with internal and external partners

  • Ability, or ability to learn, to develop a complete and coherent plan for client and project pursuit management

  • Excellent problem solving and technical writing skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.

  • 15 years of related work experience in transportation business development, communications, leading project pursuits, material development (proposals and graphics)

  • Experience and established relationships via projects with the DOT and major municipalities is preferred.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $114,400 - $171,600 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
